SWE Science

SWE Science is a free, monthly program conducted by UC Berkeley STEM students geared towards teaching students the fundamentals of science and engineering through hands-on activities and experiments supplemented by presentations and workshops on scientific concepts. The program is open to elementary school [Grades 4-5] and middle school [Grades 6-8] students.

During this program, students of all genders will have the opportunity to complete various hands-on STEM activities and experiments while improving their STEM foundation and building on their existing knowledge. Some examples of previous experiments we have conducted are Marble Roller Coasters, Aerodynamic Models for Airplanes, Rubber-Band Powered Boat, Strawberry DNA Extraction, and Creating a Battery using Cents.

This semester, SWE Science will be implementing a new structure of partnering with elementary schools as an afterschool program. These events will not be open to the public, but we will be having one public event at UC Berkeley [Date TBD]. Check back here to sign up for that event!

Who can participate?

SWE Science is divided into two sections: SWE Science Saturdays for 4th-5th graders and SWE Science Scholars for 6th-8th graders. We welcome students of all genders and backgrounds to attend.
